1. Flat Roof
8 year old EPDM roof poorly installed without adequate ventilation by the previous contractor. The lack of ventilation had caused the timber structure of the roof to rot from the inside out. This required removal of the old EPDM system and rotten timbers, a partial rebuild of the roof structure and the installation of a new felt system complete with a 15 year insurance-backed guarantee.
2. Waterproofing / General Building Services
The refurbish of 80+ expansion joints around Pride Park Stadium for Derby County Football Club and the
application of waterproof coating to stand areas where new seating had been installed.
3. Mastic Asphalt Flooring
An historic cottage in Derbyshire which had no damp proof membrane within the structure of its sub-floors. The application of 15mm mastic asphalt flooring onto a glass fibre isolating membrane ensured that the floor would be damp proof and insulated for many years to come.
4. Insulation and Waterproofing
Our customer wanted to improve heat retention in the previously cold and drafty master bedroom of their new home. We stripped the old and leaking waterproofing system, installed 140mm PIR insulation onto a vapour barrier and finished the roof with a new waterproofing system complete with a 20 year insurance-backed guarantee.
5. Mastic Asphalt Damp Proof Tanking
A subterranean library being built into the hillside in the grounds of a manor house in the Peak District required mastic asphalt tanking to prevent ingress of water from the surrounding earth. Once applied, the mastic asphalt would then be hidden behind other construction and the eventual finished internal walls of the library. It had to be 100% fault-proof as any future leaks would be completely hidden.
A long and intensive process but a job massively well done by the M & A asphalt team.

9. Built Up Felt Roofing System

Previous waterproofing system was coming to the end of its natural life and showing considerable signs of wear and tear. Customer also anted to increase the fall on the roof in order to encourage rain water to drain. Upon taking a core sample from the roof we discovered that it comprised of an old felt system, fully bonded to mastic asphalt which had been laid on
to a loose concrete screed laid on top of stramit boards. This being the case, it was not suitable for the customer’s budget for us to strip the roof bare and re-build. We therefore fixed firring strips to the existing roof, installed new 18mm OSB boards onto the firring strips and then installed a new high quality built up felt roofing system. The new roofing system comes with an approved installers 20 year insurance backed guarantee covering materials and workmanship.
